SERC Training Institute: Sexuality and Cultural Diversity for Service Providers
The Sexuality Education Resource Centre MB (SERC) Training Institute hosts a training session on Sexuality and Cultural Diversity for Service Providers.
Sexuality is complex and integral to social, mental, physical and spiritual wellbeing. This training opportunity invites service providers from all sectors to examine how sexuality impacts their work with diverse cultures and the service experience for their clients.
Participants will explore their own comfort level with the topic while moving through interactive modules designed to increase awareness, knowledge, and skills on the following topics:
- Cultural Safety and Sexuality
- Social definitions of Sexuality
- Sexual Development
- Diversity in Sexuality
- Communicating about Sexuality
- Sex Positivity and Person-Centred approaches
- Consent Culture and the Law
- Sexuality and Assessment/Casework
- Best practices and evidence-based approaches
- Policy and Programming Considerations
- Contemporary Influences
- Resources and Referrals
IDEAL FOR: All Service Providers including but not limited to those in Social Work, Government and Non-Profit Sector, Settlement Services, Mental Health, Case Management, Administration and Human Resources, Programming, Justice, and Corrections.
CERTIFICATION: Participants will receive a certificate of completion worth 6.0 hours that can be applied to Continuing Competency Programs for various professional regulating bodies including The MCSW and The CRN.
